well been under the rear of the 406 as i noticed its wearing tyres on the outside edge. I've took a pic and there's play in the rear bush on the bottom of the hub carrier I've outlined the bolt where i can see the play..
1. are these an expensive repair
2. whats involved in doing this is there any other bushes i should replace while im in there
3. what part am i asking for when i go to get them

These worn bushes cause wear on the rear tyres.
ill double check tomorrow in the daylight but i definitely saw movement in the one I've marked on both sides. i could hold the wheel at the bottom and top and move the hub assembly. my tyres are wearing on the outside if that makes a difference ..
ive had it in for an mot and its failed on the bushes ive marked so looks like i was correct. the fail slip states offside/ near side lower axle swivel joints has exessive play so has any one done these ? do i need a puller? any one got the part number for them ?
I had to get one done for my MOT last year. I took the hub off and took it down to the local garage along with the bush (about £20 IIRC for the bush) and the garage pushed out the old one and pressed in the new one for me. Put it back on the car and passed fine.
Part numbers are either 3640.35 (£32.02 inc VAT) for models upto production number 07664 and 3640.41 (£23.95 inc VAT) for models after 07665. Prices are Peugeot prices, but you can get the same bushes from GSF, ECP, etc.
