Guys,
Looking for some advice. I am on the brink of buying a Cat D write off 406 HDI 90. LIght front end (Looks to be as simple as bonnet, bumper & lights)
The whole write off thing does not worry me as I currently run around in a Cat C HDI 90. What does worry me is buying the car without a V5. I need to apply for it. Does anyone else have any experience of buying cars without V5's. What should I be wary of? The guy I am buying it from seems genuine, I saw the car at his house, and have his home telephone number.
I can allegedly go to me local DVLA office, pay £25 and get one there and then; is this true?
Any help appreciated.

Re: Cat D Write Off
I think that you can apply for a new V5 from DVLA, but it will have Cat D writeoff printed in the "special notes" section at the bottom of the first page, maybe you could have a look here to check the vehicle details....
