D8 2.1TD est

Post by hammerman »

Just got a 1997/98 R reg 2.1TD estate GLX for free :cheesy: All the elec toys,Digital c/c a/c,alloys with 4 as new goodyears,168k miles,runs sweet a a nut,strong clutch,feels good on driving it.
It is my brother in laws.A PAS pipe split on it a year & a half ago,& its been sat at his brewery ever since.Put a new battery on it & it started straight away.Towed it back to mine now.
Going to do the PAS pipe, service it,check it over,a good clean inside & out(horrible cob webs on the inside :( )mot it & ebay it.Spliting the money 50/50 :D :cheesy:
Feels quite dated inside to mine(a 2003 hdi SE est),quick when you floor it but not as quick as mine(140 bhp re-map)
I`am toying with the idea of keeping it for the wife & selling her Micra.Would be a more practical car for her with a baby due in April than a 3 door Micra, but we`ll see yet. :)

Nice motor, and ideal as a baby buggy. They've a semi-electronic fuelling lash up and will take a remap too, potentially far better than an HDi.

If I were looking for a shooting break I'd be interested meself.

Well,i spent all day on the GLX today.Did the pas pipe,an easy fix but time consuming routing the new pipe.Gave it a full service.I reckon only 2 or so ltrs of engine oil came out of it!No wonder i thought the oil gauge was`nt working  .Also took the a/con display out to replace the bulbs, now it all lights up.Given it a good going over & cant find anything else wrong with it.Apart from a smashed front fog light when taking it off my ramps
Even found a full service history for it inc cam belt changes etc.Just need to give it a damn good clean inside & out & get it mot`d.
And i`ve even sold it to my next door nieghbour for £700 when its mot`d.So i stand to make £350 for a day or so`s work on it :cheesy: .My nieghbour has a 97 R reg 1.8 LX saloon at the moment in the same met green.
So over all it seems to be a good car.Not as quick as mine,& a bit more diesel rattle, but drives great. Its just a shame my wife thinks its a bit too big for her.
