is it possible to put the gearbox from a gti6 in to a 1.9td and if so is it easy enough to transfer

I dont think that it is possible to fit the GTI-6 box on the 406 diesel due to the bell housing being different and i know on the GTI-6 the steering rack is shorter due to the size of the gearbox due to the 6th gear so im not sure if you have to change the steering rack this is something i dont think you should entertain it as it could be a big problem and alot of expense you wont need hope this helps

Physically it will fit, but you may lose some right hand lock, but only really noticeble when parking, and I'm not sure whther that's just when it's retro fitted to smaller models (i.e 205's and 306's, etc). Also the gear ratios will be more suited to a petrol car so it may not be a wise move.

dnt bother the gear ratios wont do you any favours that box is built for a car with a rev range of 7000rpm not 5000 or what ever the DT goes to if you wnat a gear box improvement if u have 1.9DT stick a 2.0 hdi box on it. a few people have done this on the 306 forum. but dnt waste ur money on a 6 box

the gearbox will fit but i dont think the drive shafts will.
i know the 2.1 td box dosent fit to 306 shafts, not 100% about the 1.9 406 one thoe.

just bought a 6 speed box from a 407 hdi would this fit on my 1.9 td

I really don't think so, everything about it is different. I suppose there's a slim chance of it fitting on a 2.1td.

What did it come off?
