Actually, the tubby, 2.1TD and HDi have the same part. The V6 one is different, and I have no idea why it would be unless it's a different design of master cylinder due to the very limited space behind the rear head and the intake manifold which is only about an inch off the bulkhead
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
ahhh ok, looks like i cant go wrong with either in my ebay links then , i know what you mean about limited space!! i took a look in my mates bmw and was amazed how much space there was under there, unlike mine where theres wires and sensors everywhere!

Pffft! Try the V6 - you couldn't fit a tennis ball under my bonnet - and mine's a coupe, which has about 2" more space in each dimension under there than the saloon/estate do
I guess that's the pushrod away to the clutch m/cylinder, so there must be some sort of attachment (looks like a balljoint in the parts diagram) which is where it's bust. Any chance you could have that off to get a better idea? Perhaps it could be sleeved with something, or maybe replaced but I think you might not be able to get the pushrod out the back of the m/cylinder (is there a circlip under the boot or whatever the hell that bit is?)
