Yeah I find in snow, abs causes your wheels to roll over snow when braking whereas disabling the ABS causes the wheels to plough through the stuff, which causes a buildup and adds to the resistance. Not good on ice or sleet though

Oh yeah, I forgot that after I got home I called for a taxi to go out drinking, and he came off at the same place  vindication!

I live a moderate distance from work, and well out in the boonies (well, as remote as it's possible to get in central England) so I've equipped both cars with a sleeping bad, foam mattress and folding shovel in case the snow gets really lairy thus winter and I get stuck at work. Hell, I could sleep in my warm, snug, kettled and food stocked office on Billing Aquadrome quite comfortably.

A well known flaw of ABS, but when it's a mix of snow, sludge, ice and wet tarmac...

Suspect that and several other trends have now been reversed as the UK emerges as the world's first, '4th world economy'

I can confirm there are still BT helpdesks in the UK - I used to work in the one in Thurso up until the end of 2003. There is a BT office block in Aberdeen also that runs part of the 150 and 999 helpdesks too (some of my colleagues at Big Red are also ex-BT).

BTW - if anyone's offered a job with Manpower working for any big company, tell them to stick it. Not worthwhile.
2002 (D9) Peugeot 406 Coupe SE, 2.2 litre Petrol. Scarlet Red/Rouge Ecarlate/Rosso Scarlatto. Black Leather interior. SOLD :(
2008 (E60 LCI) BMW 525i M-Sport, 3.0 litre Petrol. Carbonschwarz Metallic. Black Dakota Leather and Myrtlewood interior.

I thought, as they closed all the ones around Liverpool etc. they got rid of the lot. These days of high speed comms your helpdesks could be anywhere in the world, so it's easier to sack all your UK employees earning a decent wage and move them to India, where you only need to pay pennies for the same work.

I must admit I'm a lot out of date now (just stay away from my pension  ), what's 150? "Dial a ho on 150"?
