You could always add a bit of colour to the site and see how long it takes you to be banned
Forums always seem a bit impenetrable when you arrive, it's like joining a conversation half way through and not knowing what the topic is meant to be nor who started it. Lurk for a while, that's the ticket. I just hope it has a better search engine than some of the other forums I inhabit

Re: A CHANGE TO GERMAN
Must admit i enjoy popping into this forum time to time, its got a great community and general banter sets it apart from other forums ive used in the past. The Megane forum i use now is really repetitive with the same old problems from one post newbies, frustrating

You only have to look at our "joined date" under the avatar to realise it's worth staying around here.
Still wondering what this here Tooty's car'll be? I'm guessing here making the move away from Diesel though?

Re: A CHANGE TO GERMAN

I have purchased a 55 plate VW Passat 2.0 TDi Sport with d.s.g. Its black in colour with very good spec Dynaudio hifi upgrade. Sports suspension uprated alloys. Tinted rear and side windows as standard and dead comfy seats. And lots of nice little touches

I would of loved the BMW. I really wanted a 535d m sport but need to spend some money on the house. I was even thinking about a 335d but really could not justify blowing best part of 20k. So instead I have been sensible. Cheaper road tax and insurance.
Have heard a few horror stories about the dsg gearbox

The VW has no particulate filter

Re: A CHANGE TO GERMAN
you get a good warranty, although if it has a full main dealer history VeeDub are replacing ABS pumps beyond the warranty period. Nice engine though.
Check the chassis number to see where it was made - about a third come from India, and if that's the case an Indian car made my a Bahraini owned company isn't exactly Ger-her-man! (I think it would likely be euro made though).
The mileage is okish too.

Re: A CHANGE TO GERMAN
As Ive owned the VW for just over 2 months. I thought I would post a review.
I love the colour deep black perl
and the aggresive front. roll on the summer when it keeps clean
I have started getting a little obsessed with detailing products though
3 for 2 again at halfords
. Also the bucket with the grit guard.
I have also resulted to using two buckets to wash the car. Not obsessed with cleaning
.
On the whole Im very impressed with the car. It drives very well and the D.S.G gearbox is a peach
.
Fuel economy is pretty good not noticed any really difference form the pug and the interior space is bigger than a 406. And the build quality is excellent.
Have been reading on the VW forums a few horror stories about the oil pump failure and it being put down to long life service. Mine will be on 10k as my previous pug was with zero engine problems.
On the whole would I buy another Peugeot no. I may keep the passat for a few years and then trade in for another german car. BMW 535d as they will be in my price range then.
The only problem I do miss the 406oc
and feel a bit of an outsider now
