O,M,F,G what a sound mmmmmmmm

Post by maglite1 »

evening everyone , unfortunatly the bad weather took its toll on me and my astra 2.0 cdti lol , i live in open countryside and sliped at 5mph or less into a tree and cracked radiator ( didnt know till next day ) , there was no visable damadge but i soon found out at my expense when the engine siezed less than a mile from home .

anyway now the good bit , i bought a 1998 peugeot 406 lx with no tax or mot off ebay :-) , everyone was saying i was mad as anything could have been wrong with it but ive had 2 406,s as company cars many moons ago and fell in live with em .

i insured it before ide even bought it and went to manchester in a cab last friday from st helens to drive the car home to mot station , car needs a passanger side rear door and a stereo other than that its now in amazing condition , i had to replace ( complete ) rear brakes drums , shoes, and slave cylinders , and have a weld done on the exhaust that was new as day its made but a factory weld had snapped clean .

car is now on road fully legaly and as the subject line says omfg what a sound the engine makes lol , read a post on here open window in a tunnel and listen to cound of engine or somethin , i was going a bit on motorway toaday and love the raw or growl off the engine when ya give it some stick , today was its first real run out as ive been just getting used to it but im smiling again and the astra is but a 2 foot square block of distant memories now .

i had a verry verry good buy off ebay as the previouse owner had put 4 new tires on it and had regular peugeot services done on the car but had called it a day when mot ran out in december , the only faults the car has is the radio display does not light up ( had it to bits ) thing its had its day anyway its the phillips cassete radio and i want a cd,bluetooth stereo anyway , atleast i can listen to radio even though ya cant see what station is on lol , only other fault i bad viabration under bonnet at around 20,000 rpm and above , i aint looked yet but im 99% sure its the track belt as it stops at slightest acceleration or turn of steering .

anyone on here into nitro radio controlled monster trucks ? i have a 6 speed 1/6th hummer with 8inch wheels its 2ft long and stands 18 inch high or there abouts , its getting sacrificed to pay for a nice ice system , looking for £250 would post photos or e mail them or it has photos allready on my fbook anyone interested mssg me .

love me new peugeot alan .

Wow! If you think that's quick and sounds good you should try the 3.0 V6

Vibration could well be the top engine mount - £20, and the display's easy to fix - just lever it out and replace the 2 bulbs. You'll need to go to the dealers for them though as they're smaller than the usual ones you can get at factors
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

i have had the stereo to bits and there is no bulbs , they are led's soldered to circuit board behind the screen , there was damadge to the stereo it has or had no power ( on off button) i de soldered radio button 6 and moved it to power button as the guy i bought car off said power button came off stereo and he had been shoving a pen in the hole to press the microswitch and at sone stage the micro switch had snaped off the board , i can listen to radio and have managed to lock 4 local stations in it doesent bother me so far as i intend buying a new stereo anyway .

going to take monster truck to shop and see how much i get offered for it to get a stereo as i dont use the truck its sat on shelf for last 16 months cost me over £700 but ill be supprised if i get 150 off shop lol .
