knocking noise from the front drivers side

Hi guys im new to the site and would like some help if possible,


i have a v plate 110 hdi

i had the drivers side spring break so replaced it and all was dandy i then set off to scotland and about half way every now and then at low speeds got a knocking noise
it happened more and more for what i would call round town driving happened in straight lines over bumps in the road and corners so i jacked the car up in scotland and didnt see or feel any movement in any drop links or track rod ends etc nd no play when rocking the wheel for bearing noise
i drove back from scotland no problem then seemed the noise had gone.....................until today

any ideas where to look?

open ya bonnet with engine running and look at the left hand side of engine toward bulkhead you will see top engine mount rev the engine and listen to and watch the mount , its common fault as i found , noise seems to appear round 2000rpm and when ya cruising ie not accelerating just going at level steady pace , i reved mine with bonnet open and it was obviouse beside many people on here pointing me in right direction .

ok i have looked at my top mounting and it doesnt seem to be the same but either way there is no play

think i will jack it up and check the subframe and anti rollbar bushes see where i go from there

i found my droplinks looked fine, but needed replacing

my passenger side one i replaced, noise went away, 6 weeks later the noise came back, replaced the left one again and it cured it

cheap parts were false economy!

so for 12 quid i would have a play with droplinks

i replaced the drivers side droplink when i changed the spring but will bear that in mind
