WANTED: Leather steering wheel :)

Hello,

If anyone happens to be breaking a non-pauper-spec 406, or happens upon one in a yard when they're looking for something else, I'd like the leather steering wheel please!

I know they're in 406 SRi models, Execs, and some Coupes, and (correct me if I'm wrong) that the same part fits both D8 and D9 versions in all three body styles (saloon, estate, and coupe).

ALSO looking for that plastic bit that clips on to the metal hinge on the boot lid (the right-side one is missing on mine)

The D8 and D9 steering wheels are different. For some UTTERLY RETARDED reason Pug decided to move the horn to the side of the airbag, making it hard to press and really scary if you decide to wallop it As a result they're not electrically the same. Consider yourself corrected Although I guess it'd fit if you didn't care about the airbag...

It is a bit silly, right enough - one time I tried to honk the horn at some total wally who walked out in front of the car, and then just stood there nattering (drunkenly) to his mate who had elected to remain on the pavement. It didn't work, and then I realised I was thumping the wrong bit...

Scared the bejeezus out of him when it did go off, and I got the bird flipped at me in retaliation.

The horn in my old Mk 1 Clio sounded embarassingly girly in comparison.


Back on topic, yeah - I'd prefer an operational airbag, as smooshing my face all over the steering wheel doesn't sound like an attractive proposition

I'm in the market for a steering wheel, as mine is quite badly worn.

There's a new one on ebay for £35 delivered which seems really reasonable, but after putting leather in, and being a tart, i'd like a leather one instead.

Looked on ebay for a few days now, but none that look like leather

i fitted a leather steering wheel from a d9 onto my d8 it fitted and the airbag connects ok, the horn is still on the stalk so all works well.

That's a point, I think you're missing that early not-very-mulitplexed D9s will still have the same set up.

Mine is an early D9, but has the horn on the edge of the steering wheel, rather than on a stalk.

I'm still after a D9 leather wheel, by the way ... how easy are they to swap out?
