According to Parkers, the 2.2 HDi 170 was released in 2004, comes in Sport, Sport Multimedia, GT & GT Multimedia flavours....

Now you're torqueing
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Bleurgh! I'll take the black plastic version over the excessive fake walnut any day :)
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

I agree. That interior is identical to the one in my Dads 607. I'm sick of looking at the fake wood everywhere. Very old fashioned. Much prefer the black interior with matching white dials. 8)

Take it from someone who drives a 607 on a regular basis (me). They are a great, great car. Really solid. The best way I can describe it is as a beefier 406 with better quality controls and parts. My recommentdation is to get the 2.2 HDi 136 in SE form. Go for the leather. Try get an automatic as the manual always feels like it doenst 'suit' the car. Id definitely recommend one as they are an excellent car for long or short journeys

Top Gear captured the 607 excellently (even though I usually disagree with them when it comes to Peugeots)

"To get the most from the 607 you should hold back from exploring the car's limits - it's not that kind of vehicle. If you started to think about your driving you'd notice a ponderous gearchange from the five-speed 'box and bundles of body roll. Far better just to waft around taking up more than your share of road space, letting the ride cosset you like a Radox bath and arrive at your destination more relaxed than when you left" - Top Gear :arrowu:

I had this arguement with the FTO which had a nifty sound system - he let me take the autochanger and comms lead (cos it wasn't factory fit) but I had to leave the head unit in place! - he said I could take the head unit but must replace it with an equivalent even though it was a CAT B write off going off to be broken up. Seemed silly to me getting a brand new unit out of the box and posting it into the hole in the dash :|

Here soops look at the swish interior ..............

Is that pic of a 407 nterior or a 607? Cos I couldn't find a 607 on autotrader with the walnut trim :(

That's a 607 interior,a nd for your needs, I think it's got to be the 607 all day long.

Definitely fits the bill, they'll just be harder to find.

I am banging my head against a brick wall right now - it looks like I won't be getting another car
The Aviva assessor is demanding I accept £1800, but as soon as I accept it, the hire car goes back, meaning I will be out of work.
I have explained to him that I am waiting for the insurance ombudsman to get back to me, as the free RAC legal help with my policy is no help - after being put through to a call centre in Mumbai they have said they only have an obligation to recover the amount for the loss of the car - as far as they are concerned, £1800 is a good settlement amount for it's age and mileage. That does not solve the headache of finding one under 5 years for plating purposes. I was hoping they would sue the other driver for the balance but they are not interested in doing so, and said I can't pursue her in the small claims as it is unheard of.
The assessor has said whether i am trying to claw back the deficit has nothing to do with his offer, that is completely separate and I have to accept it.
I am so p*ssed off :(
A friend has approached another cab driver with a car already plated and we were hoping to hear back on the basis that I could accept the £1800 and demand to keep the black one for spares only but so far we have heard nothing.

Its very very harsh. Perhaps you could use this experience to put a motion forward to insurance companies or even local/national government becasue I doubt you're the first Taxi driver to be in this situation. That is really a downside of being a taxi driver with these new regulations.

On the other hand, a 406 will come up at some point. It might not be as nice as black beauty but there is still bucketloads of good examples flying about the place.
