My PUG is a Volvo now
I had a 110 exec (1999 T reg) had it for three years and unfortunately suffered every single fault that you could list on a HDi

I now blaim that on the relatively light use of about 7000 miles a year - I don't think it liked that.
To be fair mine was a stonking performer and I allways considered I had a good'un in fact I'd genuinely call it 'fast'. I suffered the lower engine mount, torn-through eggsauce flexi, punctured intercooler hose, EGR leakage, throttle pot faults, DMF wear, clutch slip, bottom pulley failure, broken spring, failed in-tank fuel pump, numerous engine light episodes, failed radiator cooling fan, failed air con condensor (2 off), eggsauce fell off at the back, ...........I
think that's about it.
I still forgive it though
Getting back to your I/C then any oil present around it has come from within it - it is normal for some oil to collect in the I/C and if it's leaking then the positive air pressure inside it will blow out this oil onto the surroundings. I used to pop off the bottom hose every now and then and just drain any oil out.
