Will be interesting to see what Geely do with Volvo.

I wonder if Volvo/Geely will still supply ford for the ST/RS Engines and gearboxes?

The engines are made by Frod, but the 5 pots are made under licence from volvo as t'was originally their design. When the licence requires renewal Gelly could make a few quid there, as doubtless before it was done at in house mates rates, and is probably one of many reasons who volvo were making a loss by subsidising big brother with technology at a commercial loss.

Volvo were making a fearsome loss in recent years, so they can hardly be in a worse position now. If the Chinese can turn them round then that's all good stuff. If not, they're hardly any worse off than they were yesterday.

The 5-pot engines are made by Volvo, with plastic covers by Ford though.

The transmisson in the Focus ST is also a Volvo 'box.

The article on autocar states that FORD will supply Volvo with engines? I dont see how, as Volvo owns the 5-pots and most 'boxes.

Maybe some kind of legal/manufacturing thing I dont understand there though?

Regarding Tata, seem to remember the establishment famously stating, 'These Indians aren't Cowboys'. Haven't heard anything so charitable about the Chinese.....

Didn't Prince Phillip pay them a compliment a few years back?
