Re: engine problem
Could also be the seals in the turbo.

What did you do to resolve it?barryj75 wrote:had that problem last year kept reving upto 3000 revs had to turn off restart then be ok got rac out and he pluged in to his laptop and he said it was my high presure pump at fault

Re: engine problem
i found i had a leak in one of the leak off pipes and was sucking air in replaced them at the sum of £3 and its never did it again
Re: engine problem
this used to be a common fault on lorries, and was caused by the turbo sucking in oil from worn bearings and forcing it into the diesel engine, causing the lorry to rev with no throttle input - and the strangler wouldnt cut the motor off as it was getting "fuel" from the turbine oil supply if the leak was bad enough.
Other possible causes would be dodgy injectors leaking extra fuel, as a diesel has no vacuum and the intake is always fully open, so "throttle" is achieved by increasing injector pressure and rate at the injection pump itself. Any extra fuel entering the cylinders will cause the engine to rev up.
I would check for play or wear in the throttle spindle on the pump too maybe?
