Fuel Pump?

Post by 110wyn »

Help req!!! On way to work this morning, car cut out, wouldn't start again. Waited a few mins. turned key & heard a grumbling noise coming from the rear. The car started, then conked out half a mile (if that) later.

This happened a couple of times before i got back home.

I'm guessing that it's the fuel pump in the diesel tank? How easy a job is this to do?

Thanks in advance.

Forgot to say, it's a 110 HDI.

not too bad, lift rear seat squabs and its mounted on top of the tank under a lock ring. Remember to release the pressure from the fuel lines gently and keep any dirt from entering the tank while the pump is out. BTW item 10 is the safety cut-out that stops the fuel supply in an accident.

Thanks aswell mate. i've just been having a look see, took off the electrical connector & noticed the connections were a bit corroded.
Cleaned them up a bit, started it, left it a bit, then did a mile or so - not a flicker.

Fingers crossed, but knowing my luck......

Theres plenty of threads on here about it guys, its a very common problem but luckily a very easy fix and not to pricey if you stay away from the stealers :D

The search box holds most answers really, these 406s are predictable to say the least when it comes to some things :?

Well, just dropped my father in law off (20 mile round trip) & it never missed a beat. Even the engine light on the dash has gone out.

I put the lottery on while the going was good!
