wont starts

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Hiya mate, 1997 wouldn't have had a BSI. Have you checked the fuses inside the car too? If so you really need to find out what it was you touched with the spanner, that'll give us a clue where to look.

First thing that comes to mind is the glow plug rail, which isn't fused...

HI i touched my spanner on a the side of the fuel pump as i was adjusting the fuel flow nut ,there is a wire that goes from there to the loom with a connecter on it so it must have been that
thanks

buy doing this you are bypassing the system,so dont think it would be the solanoid as dont see how this would effect the clocks etc.
i would double check your fuses
have you a in line fuse somewhere? because if this is blown it will stop that part of the electrics working but as the fuses are good in the system when you bypass it everything works[if that makes sense]

Sounds like a lucky escape. Sparks flying about on a BSi'd car is bad news.....

I know, I was just saying he was lucky as if it was a BSi'd car he'd have not been so, err, lucky, like.

I shall try to be more clear in future :(
