Boats

Post by steve_earwig »

Seeing as how it's pi$$ing down once more and I can't be asked to go and get wet, I thought I'd post some pics of what my mate Goran's dad does with his spare time. Thisis what Goran does (and make furniture, rebuild old Tomos motorcycles, etc. etc. etc.). He still lives in part of his parent's house, with wife and baby daughter, but he's converted the loft into a large flat (common practice here). The first time I was there to see his bikes and models I followed him into the house, into his parent's living room and was presented with:

Young Goran himself, looking surly...

Imagine dusting that lot!

I was there the other day, his dad is just putting the finishing touches to these traditional Croatian something-or-others:

All hand made, he even makes the hulls out of strips of wood to make individual planks, so it's not like they're once big lump of wood:

Each boat represents hundreds of hours of work. No kits, no parts bought in, totally from scratch. These 4 are being made to order so are already sold.

How much? 500€ a pop

Anyway, as you were :cheesy:

Blimey! They look quite extraordinarily good. Not the thing for my 2 year old son me thinks.

Right now they are less than a mile away and im loving the childminding ability of the family, but really, upstairs??

now there is also the large outbuilding that is being used as a garage at the moment and there is talk of that being converted to a house for us, complete with our own access to the street and our own garden, now that i could just about live with but upstairs just seems too close, i spose its what your used to, and not being originally from these parts i find it all a bit strange where as the wife sees it as completely normal and im the weird one for not jumping at the chance
