Microbore is a crap excuse for heating pipework I hate it, it's noisy too with the flow of water being higher than 15mm. It became popular in the 80's and 90's where the droppers to the ground floor rads could be concealed just beneath the plaster layer (handy for drilling into) and the risers for the 1st floor rads could be concealed neatly to exit the wall rather than rise from the floor and get bashed with the hoover etc.

Sam I'd lather a metric sh*t load of High Temp grease shiz all round them and squish it under too and this might easy the noises, you might be able to lose those plastic clips too as they're only put in place to hold the stuff down before the floor boards - you could pull the clips and I bet the copper will stay in the same place.

I've never experienced microbore (only when I made a still...) but I'd be tempted to rip it out and replace it with proper plumbing.

I was thinking more of ripping out the existing first. It might get a bit more complicated when you got to the kitchen but a week of take aways probably wouldn't be too terrible...

The monkeys who installed our new* kitchen (12/13 years ago) wired all the sockets on the one wall into the cooker circuit. So it went from having an old fashioned electric cooker on it to having a twin fan oven, ceramic hob, hood and two, twin sockets with various appliances such as the microwave and the kettle hanging out of them. The result of this is that every year, on the 25th of December, at about noon (just at the busiest bit of lunch prep), the circuit trips and panic ensues. Needless to say, the kettle and microwave are now the other side of the kitchen, but it still trips out every Christmas day.

Would love to rewire my house and it's 1960s wiring but I just don't think it's worth the expense and mess.

Thanks Steve,
It's been quite a bit of work. Shouldn't cause me any issues if I ever get rear ended again by anything smaller than a lorry ;)

Cat food. I was talking to my mate James (the organic farmer) a while back, he's adopted a cat amd was considering feeding it with dead mouse (snake food). I'm not really sure if that'll happen because usually if you take a live mouse away from a cat, terminate it and give it back, they act like they'd rather eat broken glass.

The thing I find with cat food is they go off it rather quickly, we' can't buy too much of just one make because they'll suddenly all go off it and it'll end up being given to the dogs. Cats are fussy bastards anyway but I'm always dubious of cat food so I'd be interested in any alternative, so I was thinking if I can get meat the same price or cheaper than cat food I'd like to give it a go. The Lidl stuff seems reasonable as cat food goes, and costs 24Kn a kilo (about 2 pounds 40, I know you can get better, cheaper in the UK but I'm not there am I.) There is cheaper but I wouldn't like to eat it, and there is more expensive (Whiskers is more expensive for a start but I've never owned a cat that would eat it).

So I've bought meat 3 or 4 times, kilo of stewing steak here, kilo of fatty pig neck here:

Mine!
Image

I got some pig neck Friday, it was very fatty and gristly but only 19Kn a kilo, ideal for puddy tats I reckon. Camilla thought so too, and nicked some straight out the bag.

She wouldn't give it back either:
Image
Grrrrr!

They're mad for it, I think they'd eat it until they went pop! so I have to tell them they've had enough. The trouble is now it's all gone I'm giving them cat food again and they all hate it. They begrudgingly lick some of the sauce off and leave the rest for the flies.

How many cats?
Image

Answer: 5. All hungry but wanting something better than cat food. Last night I went into the kitchen to make a sarnie and I suddenly had all 7, all hungry and screaming for food. And they all wanted something better than cat food. Apart from Billie, who still doesn't like anything at all. So I have to deal with them first, or I've got no chance of making a sandwich without them walking on the bread or sampling the contents.

I don't like this,
I don't like that,
I don't like anything
'cos I'm a cat.

Note Teatime on the floor, suddenly he's gone from an outdoor cat who would scarcely come in the garden to sleeping on a chair. This is a recent occurrence possibly due to the meat and possibly doe to the rain we've had the last couple of days. Still an unusual cat he doesn't make any trouble, just the other cats get upset by his presence.

Now if you'll excuse me, t'wife's making lunch and I have to fend off all the cats. Gah! 7 is just too many cats :(

Our two don't like cheap cat food so tend to have.....ahem....Waitrose Cat Food or Felix they like...but it must be in Gravy not Jelly. I mustard mitt they always eat it well until the bowl is clean, I notice if there's ever any food left out for a while that they turn their noses up at it so it must be freshly dished up all the time. I have to say some of it smells quite nice to me whereas the cheap stuff stinks. Might be worth spending the extra coin on top stuff that doesn't get wasted?

They also devour Sardines in Brine as if the world's going to end.

And if I'm cutting up Red Meat for us I sometimes let them have a cheeky piece of it raw....are Cats ok with raw meat? I assumed they were after eating mice, wabbits etc...

Do Harrods sell cat food? :p We've been buying Felix to give them some variety but they only seem to do the jelly here and they've gone right off it the last couple of weeks. Not sure if they do tins here but we tend not to buy tinned cat food as they tend to go off it half way down a tin (I think they're telepathically connected) so half of it ends up in the bin. I suppose it might be easier to keep it now it's a bit cooler (you're not meant to keep it in the fridge as cold food hurts their poor little stomachs, ah diddums  )

I've tried a few tinned fish but it's pricey here. I've had very little success with it anyway, apart from sardines in tomato sauce as Srečko loves ketchup for some reason. They're mad for tinned tuna but for some reason most of it's flakes which comes out of the tin like soup so I suspect there's not that much actual fish in there. Lidl do steaks but it's pricey so I don't eat it very often (I think it's about 1 pound 50 for 160g)

I've also bought frozen fish but again it's pricey. Apart from stuff like coley and pappalini, which they hate.

We've just had a chicken war as t'wife was doing it for our lunch. She gets it cheap through the school but it's still 32Kn a kilo (divide by 10, it's close enough)

I should think raw meat is ok, although I know it lacks roughage (fur) and calcium (bones). Still, it's got to be better than wet cat food.

They're not that keen on dry food either. They were mad for the stuff we get from DM but that doesn't seem to be going much any more, I think the main reason it disappears now is Mary-jane transfers it to the garden via her stomach (barf). We were buying dry kitten food but it's pricey as it comes in small boxes. They all like that, the kittens don't get a look in :frown:

I guess I should do more investigation on the tinned stuff, ok it's pricey but if I can find something that doesn't end up in the dogs/bin/down the bog it might be worth it. :(

My mum's last cat was a Persian, he was absolutely, and without doubt, the fussiest animal I've ever borne witness to. Turned his (tiny, scrunched) nose up at everything, even if you saw him eat it all up and lick the bowl clean the last time you gave it to him.

Totally non-scientific, but at one point, I got so fed up with him rejecting food, I would always take two packets of food out of the cupboard, hold them both at his nose height, and whichever packet he'd bite at, I'd feed him. And 9/10 times, he'd eat it.

Their current cat is considerably less fussy, but still rejects food occasionally.
