The most common fault with a TDi by far is the MAF and symptoms are the lack of power. They used to be expensive but there was such a demand for them that VW made them cheaper apparently. They're something like £70.00.

Weird cos the HDi never suffers MAF problems :|

I feel compelled to defend the HDi.

Colleagues TDi MAF went at 15k from new.

My HDi MAF went at 130k, 8 years old, unknown service history.
