I love it. I fancy a 508, but I cant really bring myself to part with her. The remap gives her a P2W ratio well in excess of the petrol V6, and as stock was only half a second slower to 60, but I only had the remap to cure the horrid emissions-shut-off-jerkiness between gears - the extra thrust was simply very pleasant side effect!

These are actually rather cheap - considering... look :!:

A reliable 407 Coupe... nice. The inside looks very inviting indeed.

Roger that Welly - replacing the DMF and FAP more than wipe out any cost saving you've made on the fuel, unless you're a mega mile driver.

My 407 rates at 43p a mile, but then I should leave out some of the variables (such as depreciation) as I don't intend to sell it.
What about when you have to buy a replacement car? Depreciation is a very important factor in calculating the true cost. Most cars lose 20% just taking a new vehicle of the forcourt and about 20 % for the first 3 years of ownership. i.e. if you pay £19,545 (the basic cost of the 407) after 3 years that is £11,727 of depreciation lost!

That works out at £0.3257 per mile if you do an average 12,000 per year for just depreciation alone, yet all the other costs (goes up even more if you do less).

The reason why i would never buy a new car even if I had the money

Should just add that it is better to download the spreadsheet and insert your own figs.

Mine comes out at 39p per mile, I worked it out myself at 47p per mile ages ago to present to a previous employer in order to demonstrate that the 25p/mile expenses they were paying were total arse! At that time the fuel alone came to 23p/mile

32000 miles from a set of tyres is rather optomistic though (at least it is in my case), I'm getting more like 12-15K out of mine

You wanna try 8-9K miles at £140.00 a corner

sh*t, I bet that spreadsheet doesn't account for that.

No, it assumes your tyres will last 32K, that's why I mentioned it....

Tyres are like women - some last a long time others seem to go very quickly - depends how you treat them! :supafrisk: :cheesy:

I have 2 cars. For various reasons, the 407 gets little use and has only 30,300 miles at 5 years of age. Keeping her well maintained, I expect to reasonably see another 15 years out of her with no problem.

I paid £6500 for for, and if she devalues to, say, £1000 (to keep the maths simple), which is fair if I keep her in A1 trim, that's £5500 spread over 2 decades, or around £250ish a year depreciation spread out over the potential ownership period of the car. It's so insignificant it's not worth even trying to calculate, it's just not a factor over an extended period of time.

i just try and ignore them costs otherwise it would depress me, but a full tank of diesel does me 4 weeks at the moment, and any things i buy for the car is bought for it just for the sake of tidying it up, it has never really needed anything urgently and definatley shouldnt now
