ithink the isuzu lumps are relible,
they where the taxi drivers best mate at one time,
the astras only had the 1.7s fitted but they never missed a beat, tax was only half price too,
they where out cast by the 406 on the ranks , perhaps they realised some of them where on cheap car tax too,

Re: Jap Cars
Interesting, I know someone with a Verso D-4-D whatever don't know if it's the 180 but I'd like to know what's wrong with them as I get the "ooooh, we got 176.9mpg at the weekend" and "ooooh, this Toyota is so cheap to run" far to much for my likingsteve_earwig wrote:Incidentaly on the Toy Otter forum the later RAV 180 diesels have almost all had their engines replaced under warranty, some twice. There's one guy on there that's trying to trade his one in but the dealers won't touch it with a shitty stick. Imagine owning one when it's out of warranty...

Re: Jap Cars
One of my colleagues has an 11 plate Toyota RAV4, with the 150HP 2.2 D-4D engine. She's had no problems with it so far. Decent motor, and quite impressive fuel economy - 48MPG in a fairly boxy 4x4 that weighs 2.2 tonnes.
4x4s just aren't my cup of tea though. Actually, I get the impression they're not exactly her cup of tea either; it's quite a pity, because not long after she was given her terminal prognosis, she went out and bought a brand new Audi TT and she absolutely loved it (she actually picked it up the same day I picked up the Coupe, back in November 2010).
But then the snows came, and because it wasn't a TT Quattro (no 4WD), and it had the optional 18in alloys with low-profile summer tyres on it, she literally couldn't drive it; couldn't get it out of her car park - rear wheels spinning, and no momentum. She had to rely on other people giving her lifts to/from work, and to/from her oncology appointments. She had the TT for only a couple of months before she traded it in for the RAV4, and she probably only drove it 5 - 10 times. She values her independence tremendously, and the RAV4 gives her the freedom she needs.

Re: Jap Cars
I say i've never owned a jap car, but I did have a Rover 620 years back, which for all intents and purposes is a Honda Accord and I don't think I ever did anything to that car except spray a can of WD40 around the engine bay once a week ( back when WD40 was a £1 a can )
