Hi All,
Car is back and seems to now be running fine. Handbrake now working and fuel filler cap opens so i can put fuel in. Chap said the limp mode was due to a sensor fault and something to do with some pipes somewhere.?.. I'm just hoping he didnt just clear codes etc but if he did will prob just get someone else to look at it. So hopefully now all is well. Just need to work out why the wing mirrors go crazy every time i start the car!! Oh he has also put another starter motor on for me. And replaced the brake lights! Still no sat nav remote but somebody on here has one so i will be in touch with them! Heated seats are still working! whoop whoop !

Sounds like you're getting somewhere now. I think you're right that if you get further problems you'd best go elsewhere
you only tend to get 'one shot' at these people and at least you have the new starter etc...
The mirrors can do that sometimes, with the engine running try making a couple of adjustments to the mirrors and drivers seat and thne press-and-hold the M and 1 buttons (on the seat base) together until you hear a beep - this might reset the system. The mirror/seat position is memorised for 2 settings, quite clever really and normally reliable.
The sat nav is rubbish as standard, probably well out of date too but if you want a remote you should get one easily enough.
The heated seats are very good on the 406, especially the lower back portion.

The SatNav system is made by NavTeq, who stopped producing updates for this monochrome CD-ROM-based system in 2006. And they still charge you more than £80 plus VAT for the privilege of buying a 6-year-old CD-ROM.Welly wrote:The sat nav is rubbish as standard, probably well out of date too
If you replace the stereo with an after-market unit, the MFD will always show the sat-nav data even when the stereo is on, so it's a nice-to-have thing that just tells you what street you're on - but for actual door-to-door navigation, it's crap. Use a TomTom or an Android smartphone with Google Navigation on it.

Is he going to remove the particle filter or just clean it? If he is going to remove it, ask him if he has removed all the FAP functions from the ECU - if you sound like you know what you are talking about, he won't want to risk doing half a job.Tasharaps wrote:Limp mode back .... dealer picking car up thursday night to remove the particle filter...
