My 407 has been a great car :D

3 years and 40,000 miles driven, only a failed DMF and a drop link, oh and a rear ABS sensor fault.

Here here! My friend has just got a 207, I haven't heard anything bad about those yet.. I think it's design more focussed on replacing the 205 whereas the 206 was like 'WTF have we done here?' It looked nothing like it's predecessor!

Did you end up replacing the rear ABS sensor John?
They are nice cars to look at but I don't think I could own one, for fear of everything breaking

I like the look of the 207, but would not own one myself.

When I had my faithfull 406 178k and still going strong, I had a look at the 407 & 407 coupe. Not my cup of tea. Now I have my VW I would not ever consider a pug as a replacement. I'm really tempted to buy a 406 estate as mine and Mrs Rappy's 2nd car, w ends away & great for taking the dogs in when we go waking.

Parents had a 405 and the 406 was a great update. 406 to 407 not so sure. Hence I moved from the Peugeot brand.

Cant comment on that, mine has been ultra reliable the 3yrs I have owned it. And the running costs are better. I have kept a tally from when I owned my 406. Im currently 2k up compared to Peugeot ownership.

The only thing wrong with my vw is the diesel engine is not as refined as the Hdi and they drink oil

Well all ican say is,

if you ever need parts for it, be prepaired,

general wear and tear items, aux belts etc are cheap but
the main stuff, Suspension related you get Fleeced,

Engine wise, they are reliable, but when you need say A Cambelt change you have my deepest sympathy :(

Have had my 306 td for over 11 years and has NEVER missed a beat..!! Does go through ball joints and back door pins creak and break but nothing serious.
306 is a great car for all people, great cheap first car and an economical and practical one for us middle aged..... ( is 38 middle aged?? )
The later Hdi90 are probably the best all rounder.

Well I must admit I found the seats in the 205 the best ever...... Could easily do hours of driving and be comfortable... Not sure I'd feel the same int he 406 though......

I have to agree some of the old 05 peugeots had the most comfy seats ive ever sat in, and thats comparing them against decent sofas, the 205 and 305 were nice, the best was the old 505 them seats were mega comfy. Only thing is the fabric on the older seats wore out quite easy.

On the subject of the thread, id get the 306 much nicer car to drive and nicer to sit in than the 206

Here is a nice NI 306:

I like how the service history is visible and well documented on the engine bay :cheesy:

Thanks for the pep, this year I will be celebrating my 21st anniversary of being 18.......
On the 306 subject - I have driven from Bournemouth to St Andrews nonstop a couple of times in mine ( about 9 hours and 525 miles ) and felt fine at the end of the journey, albeit a bit tired.
Bournemouth - St.Andrews - Down to Carlisle before needing more diesel.!!! Easily achieving 70mpg.
Still got the car now, just done the glowplugs so good for another 11years I hope.

My first initial thought when opening your link was  WOW then I realized I wasn't window shopping for me  :x though - this didn't stop me tother night when I was commenting about a 406 exec as 'spares repairs' - anyhow, I can't see my parents, who are nearing their middle 50's to get such a sported up car, sad but true plus they'd prefer a 5 door version.... But I see your points, they need to get a 306 to keep me happy
