Speeding alert

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

I don't think the BSI functionality exists - if you can't operate stuff, (e.g. windows), via the 'Actuators Test' function, then the hardware's not there to do it automatically.

Works fine on mine, but then I do have the early HDi coupe with auto windows both sides

I have progress on the speeding alert function.

I found this screen:

and enabled it on Sunday.

Today on the A33 it beeped at me frantically when I passed about 75. Lots of beeps and a speed warning message on the MFD. Nearly shat myself -- thought it was a really bad 'engine anti-polution system defective'

Now, can anyone remember how I enabled that menu?

rwb, I did the same as you. When it went off I thought something bad had happened.

Isn't the constant beeping annoying? I turned mine back off after 2 days.

It's a bit over the top to say the least.

However, I want to enable the menu again and see if I can set the speed at which it activates.

When I've worked out how it works: off it goes.

I tried to set the speed on the mfd / trip computer button but I couldn't figure it out - got bored of trying so turned that off too...

No different on the Coupe either.
I can get the mfd display to change etc and also get the car to beep at me at about 75ish but I can't control the speed at which it beeps. Nothing I do on the mfd display makes a blind bit of difference to the speed at which the (annoying) beeping cuts in.
Just a gimmick really, but if it's there...I want it to work!

Exactly Mark.

Did you figure out that the long triangle on the mfd means 'press and hold'?

I sussed the long triangle was an on / off toggle, just wasn't sure how to activate it when driving on a certain road at a certain speed to ' set ' the warning.

Yes, I understood from an article on the French Coupe site that the long triangle means press and hold for at least 2 seconds whereas the short one means just that...a short press!
It does what you'd expect it to do on the screen, but doesn't appear to influence anything in the real world! :?

My logic tells me that when you get to this stage (in the pic) one long press should store the current speed and it'll beep when you exceed that speed........it's like the mfd isn't talking to the BSI....
