Clutch

Post by jprk5 »

HELP

I bought my 1.9 TD LX a few weeks ago and since i bought it it has juddered quite badly on and off while pulling away from a standstill, especially in reverse.
About a week ago i went to park and the clutch completely failed to disengage and it stalled. After that the car refused to go into gear at all. After having a tinker i found that the release fork wobbled dramatically and after having a look at a haynes manual i found that the plastic bush that should surround the release shaft was missing. I managed to get the fork off and pack the gap where the bush is supposed to be and put it back together. (Following this the shaft and fork was held securely and limeted only to their correct movement) I gave it a drive around the block and it worked fine without a judder until I stopped again. I tried tightening the clutch cable and it managed to last me the 6 mile trip home, it didn't judder at all and it stopped successfuly at every junction until i got to my front door and it did the same thing again. My botch job only works off and on even though i can't see signs of anything moving. *confused*

I don't suppose anyone else has had a similar problem or would know how to fix it as it seems that just adding the bush would only fix half of the problem.

you need a new clutch unfortunatley, the 1.9td and 2.0 16v have a backwards clutch, which never slips, it just gives what seems like gearbox trouble
