I may have a solution though before that happens... I'm working on the idea of a Lexarse Soarer Twin Turbo Intercooler, mounted under the inner wing like on the soarer... those bad boys run @ 280ho, so plenty of cooling capability for the 406! I'm hoping anyway !
Question...

What is the cooler made of....I'd imagine it to rust out pretty quick if it wasnt made out of stainless steel?

GO GO Lexarse Soarer TT - wicked motor in them! :)

Its made from Aluminium tube and fins with plastic end caps.... typically its the end caps that give way first..... however the tubing isn't the thickest and so is prone to failure under higher than standard boost pressures !!

it wasnt that stressed as it was on my old diesel, it only got about a 1,000 miles use, but for some reason it was running about 1.8 bar boost
i figured out why when i was breaking it, the wastgate hose was split :P

Not if it results in my car being off the road the length of time yours was. I'd be out of a job.

Nah... I'll stick to my sensible policy of leaving the engine alone for max reliability and mpg.

But you have to consider the milage that the car has covered... it's done well!

I now have the boost set within the ECU's max rated pressure... so I get the best of both worlds... 160 miles on 1/8th of a tank w00t w00t !

Your car is an amateur toward mine.
I'm approaching 190K on the clocks.

Thats with the engine at original spec. Why f*ck around with something that clearly works?
I leave whats under the hood well alone. If it ain't broke, don't f*ck with it, thats my creedo. 8)

I personaly see no need to get more HP or speed or acceleration. I drive a comfortable family car thats sprinty enough to get through the traffic lights before they turn red again, or pop out into the gap that opens up when needing to turn onto a busy road.

You wanna dry store the 406 and get yourself a Leon!

What a fantastic car it is. Fecking fast too, mines a little bit tastey now with a CT remap, Raid induction kit and soon to have Forge turbo intake pipe.
Hats off to the Germans, that 20v 1.8 engine is a peach :)
