All exited I went on to Photobucket to browse the pics of my old MX6 and only found a pic of its Engine :?

So here, an Engine:
Image

I guess its not ideal welding it over the Winter unless you have somewhere to store it, all that crawling about in the cold and wet :(

It looks alright though and must be worth a lot more than you paid, either as a runner or in parts. I guess you won't be very popular with the neighbours stripping it for parts over a few months though.

Unfortunately that's the dilemma at the minute.
Tidied up and in full working order I could maybe get £1000 for it. Car currently owes me £210.

So do I try shift it on for what I paid, strip it (get a car cover and leave it on the drive covered up) or do get I fixed up.

Biggest issue is the welding which I can't do myself, how much is it going to set me back to get a mobile welder out to do it?

I understand modern welding kit is fairly easy for a novice to get used to and shouldn't cost too much to buy.

I've done a tiny bit of Arc welding next to a big angry pipefitter when I was a trainee and although it looked like Pigeon sh*t I did 'weld' to bits together with zero experience.

Surely you and your Dad would find welding kit useful for his Landy project too?

I don't think it would scare me off giving it a tickle with the sparkly stick, patch up + underseal etc and a new MOT :cheesy:

Welding is pretty easy and a half way decent mig welder will come in handy for more than just car repairs.

I'm currently patching both front body mounts and inner sills on the jimny.

Decided I'm going to get my parents to get me a MIG for Christmas and I'm going to give it a ago I think.

I'm unsure if I should bang a new battery on it and take it for an MOT first to see exactly what needs doing to get it back on the road?

The exhaust is expensive for this car (~£250 for an OEM Cat Back) so I'm wondering if I should get some stainless steel and build my own?

I have rented mig welders in the dim and distant past, I could never get any decent welds though. When I bought my own I realised this was because the migs I rented were knackered.

I have an ancient 90 amp jobbie, it+s really useful for all sorts of things but I wish it was a tad more powerful.

Weld your own exhaust system? Fook dat!

By OEM I mean to standard specification.

I found a centre section for £40 but the cheapest back box I can find is £120

Jammed it on eBay. If I break even all is well. If not then project Mazda is a go-er. Although I may have to find somewhere to store it for the time being.

I'm not so convicned by that. I've been over it and everything I've listed is about all that needs doing to it. I was just hoping there wouldn't be any welding.
