Odd, i have this problem and someone said the tyres were abit suspect....hmm may swap fronts to back...

ALL my sussy was given a good going over last week during it's olympic repair episode and everything is rock solid apart from the rear anti roll mountings. I thought the trailing arms may have had play in them but no.

Tyres play a huge part in handling, it is possible to get a different feel between makes. However, other things can make significant changes like putting heavy items in the boot or just loading all the family in the back and shopping in the boot. The changes occur through the tyre slip angles changing in relation to front and rear. Front wheel drive vehicles are the most usefull arrangement from a safety point of view. A tyres slip angle increases when power/ acceleration is put through it and the angle decreases when braking/ deceleration occurs. Oversteer is when the slip angles are greater on the rears than the front and the opposite for understeer. With a bit of thought you can work out from all this how to use the characteristics in your driving.
There are many other things tyres do and many myths are out there to be dispelled. If this is of interest to anyone I'd be pleased to set some straight.
