The Black pearl returns !!
good to be back too, took me ages to build me new pc, hard times at work and lack of funds but now im back new improved and smelling of anti static bags n thermal paste !
anyways just to chuck me couple o quid in to offer help in the a/c problem. As the majority say its rare for a compressor to go down or something as serious as that, quite often the seals go on the the two upright pipes situated next to the radiator rising up the inside of the wheel arch inner, the best thing to do with a/c is to use it, as dormant gas will leak through seals reguardless of how good a seal you think it is, itll just escape, while its working though its lessened in leaks, obviously over time it will leak out but at a slower rate. Dont do ya petrol a lot of good granted but it saves on heafty regassing bills, Another little snippet of information is you can get R134A recharge bottles from halfrauds for 40 quid a bottle, now i know what your thinking, hell no !, exactly what i thought but at the time i was skint and very very hot in the "summer" we had, i couldnt be doin with sticking to me leather seats no more, so i bought a can, with a free ac deodorant " gas bomb ". Read the instructions, fitted the festo type push fit connector to the AC circuit, which is pretty easy to do as itll only fit one valve as one is bigger than the other, ran the engine, aircon on full cold, full blower. The bottle comes with a guage showing you weather your car is low on gas, ( amber ), a mechanical fault ( red ) and charged ( green ) and optimum pressure ( blue ) mine was amber, so simple is to press the button on the bottle till it goes blue. result being lovely freezing air blowing in me face. I was quite impressed and the bottle has lasted me 2 years now, its not a one shot chuck away job it lasts a long long time, ive used it on all the blokes cars at work this summer, and they all went out and bought on themselves just to keep in the garage just in case. - if its good enough for a jaguar XJ its good enough for me ol'e pearl
hope this helps in this time of skintness and redundacy abundancy
