I'd imagine the brakes would be up to whatever speed you could get it up to...

I should go out, find a lump of rust and stick it on ebay, label it up as a 1903 Rolls-Royce and see what I get for it :supafrisk:

I think you'd need a few 30 gallon drums, a sheet of plywood and a shovel to start mixing up the JB weld to fix that thing :cheesy:

When I bought my 1.8 petrol D9, it had fewer miles on the clock than that (27k, if I recall correctly).

Shame it didn't live too long, bloody white van man

The diff has some issues when warm, feels like it isn't slipping or locking properly when pulling away from standstill in anything other than a straight line. I think it just needs an oil change

Carn't check it out, cos of the IT Gestapo.

In any case, this vehicle is cleary unsuitable due to the slushmatic box. I recommend keeping the diff oil and giving the rest a decent burial.

Lovely. Round about then (H-plate year) I owned the 12-valve GSI3000, same shape, slightly earlier version of this car. You could buy it
with digital instrumentation, or analogue.

I think I'd describe it as a big bruiser.

I used to work at some bullshit company and had the regular use of a Carlton Diplomat back in 1997 and I guess it was similar (apart from the fact it was a wheezy 2.0 slushmatic) but I liked the way it handled and the spec was unreal.

It got twatted really badly up the rear one night (fnar fnar) but the insurance fixered it (like they used to) the 'keeper' didn't like it after this so deliberately killed the poor thing........it lost* all its coolant on the motorway and seized :frown:

*we all knew he'd 'encouraged' a hose to blow off but couldn't prove it, he made the car a ticking time bomb....twat.

J130 UJB, GSI 3000 24V, arf levver, analogue dash, dual de-cat, chipped, 3" s/s zorst, in outside-lane-clearing constabulary white.

Funny, all my cars seemed to have a 'theme tune' that suited them, the Charleston's was 'Born to Run'.

Oh well, I'm off home, to the accompaniment of Mr Knopfler's 'Why Worry'.
