Well, I totally understimated the whole window tinting idea..............

First attempt:
Image
Doesn't look too bad but trust me it was aweful, as soon as you crease the tint trying to get the air/water bubbles out you're ..... in trouble.

I came in, after 3 hours 10 minutes, sat down. Gathered my thoughts and though - I am NOT going to be beaten. I will win this.
Ripped the tint off and started again, second attempt looks a bit better - still not perfect but for the moment I am happy-ish.

Did the rear quater window (n/s) in under 20 minutes flat..... Those windows are REALLY easy!
Image

So to summarize, Back windows are pains in the arses. I need to remove the 406oc sticker on the o/s rear quater window and clean that tomorrow to tint that side. If I am feeling brave, have a third and final attempt at the boot window............
If anyone has helpful hints - throw them at me... I have watched videos on youtube (I think the rear quater windows kinda prove that I CAN do this) but with it being such a large window (and curved) I am kind of struggling... Worst thing is creasing the fooking tint, because when you've done that - you are - game over!

Maybe I will do the other windows (middle row windows) then if I have enough tint left do the rear again...............

That's why I paid some Polish guys in Southampton £150 to do mine. Going to have to see about getting the Zafira done soon as it's a bit like a greenhouse in there at the moment.

If I had £160+ I would get it professionally done, I would.
But at the moment, £15 is just about my limit.......... and if that means I have to have 6 goes, and get through two rolls of the stuff before I get a half decent job I'm still quids in......... Plus, I'm not 100% sure I am keeping her after this summer.... I'm thinking of parting while we're on good terms ish.............

That'd be a shame after all the work you've put in, but it pays not to get too attached. What's the plan for after she goes? Are you going to be named driver on the Golf? :P

Image

Some tom dick and harry told me to swap the wires behind the headunit to make it only work with ignition: needless to say this ''trick'' failed:

Miss Pug went away for a couple of days as planned.
She went on the sand to play - she went through a car wash and had a 'pro shield' wash too - so she's all shiny and gleaming (from the outside anyway) It's been pissing it down today so haven't emptied the buckets of sand in the foot wells

I took a few pictures for you :)
This is Miss Pugs first holiday (with me anyhow)

On camp:
Image

It proper rained at Burnham on Sea:
Image

Image

Thought I'd be exclusive and pick the only secluded parking space there........ then it torrential rained didn't it........... thought she was going to float off at one point
Image

Signs of a good time:

Image

On Brean beach:

Image

Ok, so art was never my strong point but I had a go, shame about the dolphin head:
Image

Image

Sunset:
Image

Our camp site was a little flooded to say the least:
Image

Image

Dave added my purple butterflies (as previously seen on rear window) to the sticker I obtained from the FCS (custom made)
If I gets this HDi I am enquiring about tonight - it will be quite literally smoked by a girl......

These are taken on my iPhone (so excuse the piss poor quality) haven't managed to upload from the DSLR / SD card as yet....

Looks like a dolphin in flares! Should've cheated & popped the lion off the grill to trace around. Take the picture close enough & it'd pass for a biggun.

What's happening with this HDi you found then?

If it's the HDI I saw you looking at today Sonia good luck as the bloke seems to think because of the very low mileage it's worth a small fortune,i enquired about it 18 months ago before I bought my Exec,it could be a whole lot of trouble as I've only ever seen it move half a dozen times in 2-3 years and when he showed it to me it wouldn't start and the brakes were seized on.

Nice to see you earlier today....... correct it's ''that one''
He did mention a chap from Brize village who towed was interested (I guessed it was you)
You're right, 40k miles and it's apparently worth 3.5 k..............
I don't doubt that they are great cars, a good work horse, engine barely broken in, he did tell me, it had been stood 12 months and the brakes seized solid (mine also stood for 12 months and yes, my brakes also seized but christ, no where as bad as his......)
He's taken my number but I am not interested any longer.... Simply because I don't have that kind of money, looked nice but good grief, it just isn't worth that...
He still isn't ready to sell it yet anyhow.....

He was talking 3.5k 18 months ago so he obviously thinks cars don't depreciate with age,i paid 14 hundred quid for mine and it's higher spec than that and still worth not far off that now so i'm glad I never pushed him to sell it,that caravan in the drive hasn't moved for longer than I can remember and he thinks that's worth a fortune too. :?
