I suspect you wouldn't want a black car living where you are, it's bad enough here :frown:

Well, looks like that plan is well & truly on ice for a while now. Guy needs a decision by the end of the week as he picks up his new car next weekend. Phoned my insurance crowd today & got a cost to change over. My insurance was just under £400 this year purely because the company gives a discount based on how long you've owned the car. If I was looking to buy my car it would go up to £470. Going to be a bit expensive to change car at the mo:

Insurance cost to change - £220
Private plate transfer - £85
Window tinting - £150
Defapping - £300

In all it would cost me £755 to get the 607 if I was lucky enough to sell the 406 for the same price as I'm getting the new car & that is highly unlikely at the moment. Would most likely end up costing me another £600 once the 406 was actually sold. Was also half considering looking at a 2.2 C5 that's at a local trader so thought I'd ask about insurance on that while I was on the phone. Even that was going to cost £150 (but if I already owned that instead of the 406 the premium would actually be cheaper). That would end up even more expensive though as a trader would likely give no more than £1000 in px leaving me with an extra £1000 minimum to get the C5 in the first place. So that would leave me paying £1685 to change & still have no more legroom in the back for the little man that the 607 would have had. Might still take a look for the sake of it, but won't be worth my while unless the C5 has had a new clutch, cambelt & some suspension work in the past year, otherwise I'd be kicking myself for getting rid of the 406 that I've spent a load on getting mechanically spot on & turning down a 607 that's had even more spent on it.

So depressing

Stu, I'd convert your ecu file FOC,
your local tyre & exhaust place will bash the FAP out of it, under your expert guidance, for about £30,
worst-case, buy a Galletto for about £25, if you can't borrow one.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

You're an absolute star for offering mate, but I'd leave you a few quid at least. Think the insurance is the biggest thing that puts me off at the moment. The 406 is doing a grand job at the moment - central locking has been behaving since I removed my door handle modifications & sprayed up all of the mechanisms - but I keep seeing the footprints on the back of the front seat from little man's growing feet & longing for the extra room for him. Can't get away with moving the front passenger seat any further forward than it already is.

Out of curiosity; now you've seen a couple of C5 files, were they a match to the 406 2.2 files that you've seen or are they as different as you originally suspected? Not heard from anybody with a deFAPped 607 yet, but it'd certainly be useful to have the 180bhp in one due to the extra weight the thing carries!
