Actually, I understand Croatia's mentality about cars completely. In Russia, there's no such thing as a "written off" car. If it still resembles a car, it *will* be fixed and put back on the road. There's so many old cars from the Soviet era still around and not a problem.
I remember we had my dad's
Zaporozhec which was getting stuck in 2nd gear. Every time, my uncle would take the gearbox out and flip the selector back to where it's supposed to be. After the 4th time, he got bored of taking the gearbox out and made a hole on the side of it, so he could simply open the flap and flip the gear back
If that happened with a Peugeot (or any car these days), you'd have to get a new gearbox. Why? Surely it can all be FIXED...
