I take a long time to bruise, the black toes are just an extension of the ankle bruise

The cast's doing a good job of making me keep weight off it, but it's a real pain (literally) when I stand up and get blood rushing in. It's the lack of mobility that's the real killer though. I can't even put salad on my sarnies because it would involve moving a sharp knife about the kitchen without using my hands, and I've spent enough time falling on my arse/face that I just don't want to risk it

Can't really do beer anyway - it leads to having to make the trek to the loo, which although is only a few yards away, results in mucho pain

I can see the local headline now..........Man crashes through patio at home.....

......A local man, thought to have broken his ankle in a climbing accident was recovering in hospital earlier tomorrow after falling head-first through a patio window at his 6-bedroom bungalo. Matt, 46, who had his leg in plaster following his cycling accident was thought to have been trying to empty 8 ltrs of urine from a bucket when he tripped over one of his 14 cats at home.

A Neighbour (who did not want to be named) said "we saw Tesco's delivering 20 cans of Stella this morning but when we heard the screams and a big crash we were worried that something horrible had happened".

Police investigator Mr D Rees said "Matt was incredibly lucky as, when he fell, the black plastic bucket went over his head protecting him from the broken glass - he was incredibly lucky although he wanted to wash his hair urgently".
