MagicHands, you are an idiot of the highest order. "Grand Chief High Idiot sitting up their with your thumb stuck so far up your own ar$e you can pick your nose" if you will.

Did you not see Traffic Cops last week when they pulled the woman over in the Range Rover for having tinted windows then? You are allowed maximum 30% tints on the front windows, and as already stated, most manufacturers already tint their windows to almost this tolerance anyway. You may get away with a light smoke on the front, but they may still make the car illegal to be on the road, and an MOT failure.

I used to work for Ripspeed and we had to know all this sort of stuff and advise people AND get them to sign disclaimers so we couldn't be held responsible if they got done by the Police.

Basically, you are driving an illegal car, and if you were to have an accident and the Police came, they may well find that the tints contributed to thew cause of the collission so you would be held responsible. The other members on here tried to advise you of the legalities surrounding this, while trying to entertain the other members on the forum at the same time (which is what most forums I am a member of tend to do), so there is no need to spit your dummy.

There are some laws which you can get around, but when you are blatantly breaking the law (as in this case) then you need it pointing out to you in basic words, and probably images and hand gestures...

Not to mention the insurance companies fella, they'll use any excuse to avoid a pay out! MagicHands, were you to be involved in an incident, even one that wasn't your fault, the insurance assessor would certainly determine that your car is not in compliance with the law, therefore not roadworthy, therefore invalidating the insurance. So you'd find yourself with a damaged car, and probably with a civil claim on your not-so-magic hands by the other party's insurers to recoup damages and costs.

If you side-swipe and kill a cyclist or a pedestrian who you fail to see alongside you, even if they've put themselves there and the incident is unavoidable, you'll be found guilty and you'll go to jail, without passing go and without collecting your £200! Unlikely yes, but still possible. Is it worth the risk. :?: If you have any sense at all you'll get outside now and peel the tints from the front windows.

Oh and please stop spitting the dummy just 'cos we aren't saying what you want to want to hear

Fair enough I made a minor syntactical error. Replace any previous instance of "windscreen" I wrote in this thread with "front windows".

<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
