Had EML light up today
Accelerated hard off the lights and as I backed off it lit up

Was reasonably confident wasn't anything serious so carried on the 2 miles to destination. Had look around engine bay and checked oil and water to no avail.
Drove back from there and light went out after couple of mins.

Was chatting to a guy next door and he has a code reader in his car but I don't know where it plugs in?
Anyone enlighten me?

There's a blanking plate to the right of the headlamp adjuster. Just lever it out and you'll see the socket

Mine used to do that, accelerate hard and the light would come on. We narrowed it down to the throttle position sensor.

I say 'we'..........

Plugged the code reader in

Said
Faults n/a 9
Faults 1

Pressed read codes and it said
No faults stored in module

Although borrowed my mates reader Instead which was a mac and be said prior it would read petrol codes from 96 but diesel ones only from 04 - although he originally said mine wouldn't have the 16 pin plug but it did

Will have to try the first guys reader instead

Going to work this morning at 545 the EML came on again, so went to Kendal (in lorry) and when got back
tried the other code reader, and by god, looked a serious bit of kit, but again, it said 1 fault but wouldn't read the code
and said the same, no codes stored in the module
He seemed to think it wasn't the TPS as car runs sweet, and thought if it was the TPS i'd would run rough, as he had a TPS fault on his own car
He suggested, it's more likely a bad connection somewhere

Tried levering that plate out, but it didn't seem to be playing ball, so looked in the fuse box, and there it was

However my mechanic mate was repairing a 307 the other day and said he bought the whole comparible section from the stealer for £37 IIRC

Don't need the whole section, just the 2 sets of front and rear switches, and was hoping to get back at a reasonable time today as was going to get him to ring the stealer as gets better discount than I can get, but finished later than expected.

Out of curiosity if anyone has access to service box, i'd be interested to know how much they are listed for? ......... please
Signed myself up to service box, and the switches are listed seperately so now I have part numbers : 6552KV and 6552KR i'll ring the stealers tuesday

Been procrastinating just a tad over ringing stealers for prices of switches. Anyway, seen some second hand ones on the bay out of a 99 car, and at the price they were going for £2.50!!!!!! I thought it was worth the risk.
So...popped out the old switches, and popped in the other ones, and Voila!!! All the windows work fine for the first time in the 4 years i've owned the car - and all for a measly £2.50 - Bargain! :cheesy:

That reminds me with procrastinating, I heard the procrastination society was about to have their annual general meeting, but have decided to put it off till next year! Yeah ok, it was bad :cheesy:

As a driver it's good for the traffic reports
Which were particularly a problem on Thursday when that joke was on as 2 pedestrians were killed on the m6

Don't know what it is but the m6 around Stoke is extremely bad of late
Long delays the last 3 out of 4 times I've been up to Kendal of late

No, just seems to be a lot of accidents of late on the stretch, 15 to 18

The thursday before, there were long delays, and I got off at 15 through keele and cut up to j17 so avoided on way up.
On way back thought it couldn't be too bad, as had been a good few hours, but there was a full size rollon roll off skip and a artic trailer, and they were lifting pallets out of the ditch, so an artic must of come off the motorway, and they had big clean up to do.

Getting a bit paranoid about that stretch now.
Got to go Kendal again tomorrow, but not supposed to be there till 4 o clock, but thinking of going early again.
Might search the kite flying websites later, and see if there is anywhere suitable to go fly my recently acquired 3.5m power kite for a bit - suppose Morecombe beach might be an option
