The thing about the motorway is that it does give better MPG most of the time, but i find sitting at 60mph to keep 55mpg up means you get stuck behind lorries, then you have to overtake them and to keep the audi away it means overtaking fast.
The main problem is motorways are hatefuly dull.

My main issue with motorways is the troughs on the inside lane. It makes my car go all over the place!

i see that makes sense.
I was a bit confused there, normally when i hear trough i think of the concrete thing where cattle drink from. It also would make your car go all over the place.
Are you going to retrofit the Cruise Control into it?

When I have the money. Looking at £300ish fitted I think.
After a MK3 Mondeo or a Focus steering wheel with the CC buttons. MK3 Mondeo wheel means I loose airbags and the focus ones are rare. Or I could just get an aftermarket stalk.

Other issue is my steering shake is still there. Which I can garuntee is wear in my steering rack, so don't want to go on the motorway much anyway :(
I used to be up and down the country all the time in Bernie... but the Focus vibrates above 60mph which does my sweede in.

i cant remember who but i was talking one time about fixing cruise control and they put up an image of a brick and bit of string.
£300 is relativley cheap for a cruise control system, but they realy should be cheaper to add, especially some thing that plugs through the obdII port.

A system like that can't be put on most cars.
For instance my throttle is controlled via a wire, same with the XUD's and I imagine most Non-HDi 406's.
The HDi's throttle is controlled via the ECU, so maybe could be done, who knows?
I know my Dad's Volvo is fly by wire and it all goes through the ECU etc.
At least with an aftermarket system I can move it from car to car :)

At what speed? My HDi doesn't even manage that (according to the computer anyway). Reset it on the way back from Eastleigh last weekend & still only averaged 43mpg when I got back.

Was there a police car following you or something? :P

Speaking of economy driving did anyone see this on the Biased Broadcasting Company this morning?

How are motorists saving fuel?

I love this bit at the bottom. Not:
While environmentalists would welcome reduced car use and reduced CO2, says Willson, it also means reduced VAT, corporation tax and money to the Treasury. The implications of a further rise in fuel duty would affect all aspects of the economy, increasing prices in general and ultimately costing jobs.
So the man's saying that because the government will be raking in less cash if we use less fuel they'll have to put the tax up on it and f*ck the consequences  Similarly, presumably the fuel companies will put the prices up when the directors realise it's no longer paying for their lavish lifestyles
