But the production cost of making RWD is higher.

i suppose it doesnt just bolt in as neatly as the transverse layout.

I think FWD has better packaging as you don't need a huge transmission tunnel.
Though there are always possibilities of conversions, as Rover did with the 75 to plant a Mustang V8 in. The engineers loved doing things like that. Didn't replace the 45 in time though which led to their downfall.
Anytime I drive the Vectra VXR it scares me. It's chipped for over 300bhp, all going through the front wheels
In Forza 3 I have a RWD Volvo S60 conversion with around 600bhp.

The thing about rwd is it doesnt need to be as powerful to have fun, because it always likes sending the back out, such as my old merc, absolutley no power because it was an 80s N/A diesel and the thing was heavier than a ship. but it still went sideways.
