The wiper motor came seized on my D8, it was also disconnected and someone had tried to prize it apart with a big screwdriver and broken the casing  Turned out it was the shaft where it comes through the body, I used a big socket and pushed it out in a vice, lubed it up, glued the case back together and it was still working when I flogged it.

with it feeding back on the electrics, ithought its best in the bin before it sets A blaze. (dont know if there s'posed to have a perm live but it was getting a feed from somewhere, :? )

Permanent live to the rear wiper. Then a low current feed to the relay from the stalk which activated the wiper.

Sounds like the motor way simply overloading.
Can't see how it would cause all the lights on the dash to be on though? Maybe it was shorting out.

Sorted!
igot a pwr steering pump, jeez how many types is there must be 8 differnt ones,
every yard iwent into had loads in but differnt pulleys on them,

found a 306 burried under aload of junk so got lucky, most of the parts on it looked new,
so igrabbed the newish looking parts coil packs, cranksensors etc, and threw em in my tool bag :supafrisk:
got the rear wiper motor too,

whilst iwas there they got a406 exec in nice looking motor lovely leather seats in it nall,
iwas thinking of buying the full car off them but iwas too late, Crunch they piled a car on top of it :(
it still had 3mths tax on it so it had just come off the road, still a runner

Did they not wonder why you were having trouble carrying your bag out?

It is a shame about the 406 but you have to wonder why it was scrapped still with 3 month's tax still on it.

no they didnt question the tool bag,
ileft it out side the door before iwent into pay for the pwr steering pump,

not bad at 25 quid, :cheesy:

they drove the 406 in, sounded a nice quiet diesel lump in it not sure what was wrong with it
but it was too good to scrap, and theyve around 14 in there so gets me why they didnt sell it on, theyve not got a shortage of 406 parts, :?
