Big fan of these trusty rustys.....
I ran Monty diesels for some years and apart from rust and wheel bearings they were great and tough. And could shift!
The later turbo D Maestros were even quicker. Top gear motorway acceleration to match a Porsche ..honestly.
This example might be a re-imported 1.3 petrol Rumanian Maestro .
These were originally sold as knock down kits to them by Rover and the company later went bust leaving many left over as they preferred Ladas etc. over there. (The Austinrover online site detail more about these.)
You could buy them re-assembled & re-imported and reconfigured to RHD from a firm here.£5995 in 2001 I understand for a brand spanker! Even had a manual choke still! Rust proofing wasnt great as some shells had rusted in storage .
There's a Black one in Chester which still looks like it came out of the showroom.
