NEW COUPE??

Post by eoin27 »

Hi all,

I popped back in a few months ago saying that I would be around from time to time to help out. Lost interest a bit cos I dont have a 406 and I cant really help people on here like that.

I think you need to have a 406 to really get into it. Welly would prove that theory wrong though!

Anyway, Im looking at trading in my lifeless 2001 307 S in for a 2000 406 coupe 2.0 SE spec. (all the leather) It wont cost me much on the trade-in. I just want a car that I can love like my last 406.

So Im looking at it tomorrow and if I like it, I'll take it. I'll post up some pics if and when I do.

WATCH THIS SPACE!!

P.S. I cant buy a V6 - they cost too much to tax here. €2k per annum. Ireland doesnt have big engine petrol cars really. Dying breed

Hey Eoin, welcome back!

Good luck on the Coupe. Remember these things also come in a 2.2 HDi flavour - are those likely to be cheaper to tax than the 2.0 petrol?

Hey Highlander! The 2.2HDi will cost €823 to tax for the year. The 2.0 will cost €615. A good 2.2HDi is a little out of my price range at the moment. I'd prefer it but the 2.0 will be ok. I might manage 38MPG with careful driving.

My 307 1.4 is just crap. For motorway driving, its does about 34 to the gallon. Its gutless too. Really slow. Hate it. And its povery spec. This coupe has it all. Including the JBL Audio system. Its going for a song @ €3k. I'll hopefully get €2.5k for the 307 on the part exchange. 307's are one of the few pugs to really hold their value.

55kw of awesomeness!

Yeah, I can understand as to why you'd want to get out of the 307 - not the most inspiring car in the world to run! The road tax on that V6 is insane though at 2k per year - almost the value of the car per year in taxation, without factoring in running costs and the like! Sheeeeesh!

Thought about a diesel?

You won't regret buying a coupe, and loking back at it when you park up.

(Well there will be times you regret it, but the good times outweigh the bad)
