2000 HDi 110 Running Temperature

My HDi takes ages for the temp gauge to move, and even when cruising for a few miles, it sits well below "70". It only goes up to 90 if you really thrash it or sit in traffic for a long time.

Should it run warmer than this? Tired stat?

When it gets to 90 does it stay there ?? i have a 2000 110 and it behaves exactly
as you described , very slow to rise , these engines apparently run quite cool ,
once it gets to just under 90 it stays there .

sounds about right to me, they have an 83 degree C stat in them so it will hover around there in the winter and does take quite a while to get there unless you are on the boost all the time.

One thing i have noticed is that the dash gauge can be quite a bit out compared to peugeot planets temperature display, my c5's dash temp gauge was more than 10 degrees different to the live data display

Having fitted a new stat when I got mine the normal operation appeared to be for the gauge to rise reasonably steadily to around 70 and then take longer again to rise slowly to where the needle points directly at the number 9 of the '90' on the gauge.

If it hovers around the cool area for too long or will not rise further than 70 then the stat's goosed IMO.

These extremely cold mornings won't help matters though but the stat, in good condition, will be able to regulate this to maintain the temp.

Nope - once you start cruising again it can drop down lower than the 70 again...

It shouldn't do that - deffo the stat.
