. alarm sounder unit has stopped working in my 1996 2Ltr LX 406. The rest of the alarm system all works, except all i get from the sounder is a quiet ticking sound once the alarm has been triggered. I have taken the unit apart and discovered that its internal battery is totally flat.Can i test the unit by connecting the cars battery directly to the speaker. I intend buying a new one, as one from a scrap yard will probabaly have the same problem with the battery and no key with it. My local dealer can only get hold of a texton unit for a 306 and reckons it should fit my 406. My question is ,are they correct ,will the connector be the same and will it work with the 406's system please.
