Cassette is Very quite

Post by dcox1111 »

Can someone shed some light on my peculiar problem?

I have a D9 (2000) with the original radio / cassette / CD multi changer. I have a belkin cassette adapter so I can play MP3, but the volume is really quiet. The adapter works fine in other cars, and the sound is there but has to be turned up very loud (I'm likely to blow the speakers if I turn it back to the radio once more!!!)

Anyone got any suggestions?

Errrm, output volume of the mp3 player (or whatever it is)?

I had some trouble with mine trying to play the "wrong side" of the cassette adapter thingy all the time due to the auto reverse on the cassette player, may or may not be relevant... I vaguely remember taking the adapter apart and removing a cog or two - it was years ago

Perhaps the heads aren't making good contact? :?

Maybe I'll try cleaning the head (if I can reach it!) :cheesy:

Hiya, you could try one or all of these ideas :D Make sure your device is turned up and if that fails, turn the cassette adaptor over. My adaptor did the same thing, perfect on one side but very quiet on the other. I do hope this may be of some use.

i had a cassete yoke for a while, a quid out of the poundshop, the wee cogs in it for whatever reason they exhisted jammed up, so i opened it up and took out all the cogs and the whole thing worked fine, although not as good as a griffin i trip, the tape way seemed to be very faded and quiet and incapable of high bass stuff, eg phil collins in the air tonight it just couldnt handle the drum bit at all.
