Anti pollution fault

Anti pollution fault
This morning while driving to work the engine mangagement light came on and beeped and on the info screen it said anti pollution fault, any ideas what that could be? It didnt happen tonight on the way home though. Also is it normal for the outside temp on the screen flash on and off and for it to read ice hazard on the screen?

Wouldn't worry about it unless it's a regular occurence, or you're spending most of your time in limp mode, (like me) 
Outside temp display flashes & gives the 'ICE ALERT'' message at betweew +3 and -3 degrees.
