Temperature Sensor Change
Picked up a new coolant temperature sensor from Peugeot this morning & just went out to fit it, but can't get the old temperature sensor out. I've got the green plastic type (not the screw in) & visibility is a bit limited where it is, but is there some type of catch holding it in place? Can't see anything on the new one that secures it. Can somebody please help as all I can find on here are people saying how easy it is & that the new just pushes in?

Re: Temperature Sensor Change
Managed to figure it out for myself in the end. Now I've done it, I'll put it on here for anybody else that may get stuck.
No pictures unfortunately (I can never upload any), but on a 110 HDi it helps to remove the top of the airbox (4 screws, loosen the jubilee clip to remove the air pipe & unclip the grey plug from underneath the plug) as it gives you slightly better access, but much improved visibility.
The plug for the sensor is easy enough to undo with a small flat head screw driver to lever the clip, but the sensor itself is secured with one of those horrible U shaped spring clips that goes around it. May be worth picking a new one up with the new sensor as mine nearly disappeared down the back of the engine - it is a fiddly bugger. All you will see of this clip before you remove it is the end of it poking through a slot in the black plastic surrounding the sensor. Ping it back with a small flat head screwdriver & this will give you enough of the middle of the clip to be able to pull it out completely. The old sensor will now pull out quite easily & your coolant will pour out of the hole that it leaves. Make sure that you remove the old rubber O ring at this point as I assumed that it came out with the old sensor & then struggled to try to push the new sensor in against 2 O rings (old one & new one). Pop your U shaped spring clip back on from underneath again (very fiddly & easy to nearly drop it) & your new sensor should be nice & secure, but just to be safe, leave the engine cover off when topping the coolant back up so that you can see if any is still dribbling out where it may not quite be in right. Plug the green plug back into the sensor, put the airbox back together (making sure you plug the grey plug back in) & it's time to top up the coolant again.
May not make much sense to read like this & pictures would make it a lot simpler, but believe me, it'll make sense when you're doing it for yourself.
