Hi Everyone,
As the cyl head or gasket has failed in less than three months since a recon head was fitted to my 98 1.9 td I intend to fit a s/h engine. Will I need to change the ecu( there is one with the engine), should I need it, and, if I do what other electronic bits will have to be sorted?

I think the fuel pump is coded to the immobiliser from memory, not sure about the ecu.

Hi Teamster,
car does not have key pad, so is imobilser in the key now? I can get over it by changing the pump if i have to, as new timing belt will be fitted as matter of course, and pump change is not much more work.

The easiest way would be to use everything from your old engine, however, apart from the immobiliser, I don't think anything else will give you issues. There should be an immobiliser chip in the key but it only registers to the unit which is behind the dash somewhere...
