intermittant fault eng code p8c

406 2.1 1997 This car drives 100% but just recently has developed a intermittant fault. Some times when your driving car just cuts out for no apparent reason
starts to chug a bit before cutting out. will re- start again with key no problem. Took car to main peugeot dealers to-day for a code read came up
intermittant fault needle lift sensor consistency function(/) anomay (ies) a/b/c can anyone shed some light on this please

The needle lift sensor is around the injector nearest the timing belt (the one with a wire on it so you can't use a box wrench :frown: ). I had this mess up on mine, revs went up and down and it was impossible to drive slowly. I'm not sure it ever cut out but it'd be close.

Are these sensors present on HDis?
Mine hates walking pace without seesawing the clutch and plenty of rev, was embarassing at a recent funeral.
