One touch electric windows all round
The Drivers window had a 1 touch operation, but is it possible to make all the other window switches have a 1 touch facility, would it be possible to go to a scrappy and get the drivers electric window switch again and wire it into different windows.

I don't think it's that easy I'm afraid, the driver's window has some extra electrickery in it which the others lack. My only suggestion is to investigate a timer relay for a total closure car alarm.

Hi,
There may be provision for this on the pass front window, as it would be the drivers window on the continent.May be worth a look for spare plugs/wires etc.

I was thinking about this, back in the good ole' days when I had a car. I don't see why it shouldn't be possible to butcher the guts from a driver's side window set up and transfer them to your passenger side. You'd need to strip your doors right down of course, and I've no idea where the brain box for the windows is... in the door? Under the column? Exhaust pipe?
I never did find out whether the motors are any different but I wouldn't have thunk so. It seems to me you'd want the driver's switch and relay and some extra wiring - you may even find the necessary wiring in place already, as it would be cheaper for Pug than making a left and right hand version. Consult the Haynes wiring diagrams to further confuse matters.

Hi Swiss,
The amount of grief my 406 is causing me, i am beginning to think a car free like would be restful,to the emotions, if not the feet! To return to the windows theme, my xantia just had a control unit clipped to the door, and it may be that you would only need to find and fit one on a pug. Memory is bad though and I cant remember anything about the wiring!

That raises a good point which I've said before and I'll say again: when at the scrappers, remember you can rob stuff off of Xantias too!

I dont know now it seems like a lot of bother, and it wouldnt cover all the windows, on the xantia theme has anyone ever ripped the activa suspension out of one and put it into a 406 it would give the car great handling but would be much better looking than a xantia
Re: One touch electric windows all round
would it be possiple to piggy back the wires from the drivers side onto the pass side?

Only if you want both windows to open & close at the same time

Indeed, you'd have to build separate one-touch systems for both the driver's and passenger side switches. Although TBH the passenger can probably cope without, while the driver needs one-touch so they can negotiate corners, shift gear, open a can of coke, roll a fag and scratch their plums at the same time.

Re: One touch electric windows all round
what about them systems that lets you control the electric windows through a keyfob or through a phones bluetooth, and does any 406 have the thing when you put the key in the lock and hold it the windows all close
