Re: strange buzzing noise
My car is full of strange buzzing noises - I just ignore them until something actually dies...

Re: strange buzzing noise
If it's come on all of a sudden, check for signs of dual mass crank pulley failure, (rust / swarf in the general area).

Re: strange buzzing noise
You say "when the car's started"... Do you mean:
a) When the ignition is turned on? This will be the recirc flap and the vent selector mechanism starting up and working out where it is
b) When the engine's started? Could just be a bit of cold running vibration mixed with a worn engine mount
c) When the engine's running? Could be a hydraulic problem - when was the brake fluid last changed (including the clutch bled)? Could also be the DMF or clutch having issues - what other things affect the level/speed of vibration?

<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
